The Mossberg Shockwave is a Mossberg 590 with a shortened barrel and the famous Raptor Bird’s Head style pistol grip, instead of a shoulder stock.
The Raptor Grip is made by Shockwave Technologies (hence, the name Shockwave)to offer a close-quarters shorter shotgun for hip-firing. The barrel is shortened to an unprecedented 14.3″ with an overall length of 26.3″.
The Shockwave is chambered in either a 12 or 20 gauge with a 3″ chamber to offer more versatility to hunt birds or use this as a home defense shotgun.
The Mossberg Shockwave is a pump shotgun with a 6-shell capacity and an ambidextrous safety on top of the receiver for easy access.

The Mossberg Shockwave is a revolutionary shotgun that has changed the way American’s can carry a shotgun.
There is no other shotgun that you’ll find on the market that has a 14.3″ barrel and still packs the punch of a standard size 12 gauge shotgun.
This shotgun is perfect for plinking and will give you hours of fun and excitement as you learn the capabilities.
Personally, I believe this shotgun is perfect to use as a truck gun because it’s small enough to fit on your gun rack and not too big to obstruct your view out the back window.
I absolutely love the idea of using this as a home-defense shotgun with the newly added Raptor Grip. The grip provides a significantly reduced recoil and the front strap gives you the confidence that your hand won’t ever slip in front of the muzzle.
The front strap is a little coarse and can provide irritation if you spend a day shooting at the range, but I recommend wearing a glove for those days.
Should I Register My Warranty With Mossberg?
Yes! I get it’s annoying as hell to register products online, but registering your Mossberg will protect you by updating you on all legal matters.
To be clear, you’ll still get your extended warranty with all Mossberg products you buy, even if you don’t register your shotgun. By registering your shotgun with Mossberg, it allows them to update you with all pertinent legal information that comes out every month.
This will make sure you’re completely informed on any legal matter that comes up regarding your Shockwave.
What is The Raptor Grip by Shockwave technologies?
The Birds Eye Raptor Grip is designed to replace the shoulder stock of the shotgun, in order to make it in compliance with the NFA.
The Raptor Grip provides a very unorthodox and unique grip angle. Shockwave boasts that the grip reduces felt recoil by 90%, has a no-slip grip texture, and is made of a glass-reinforced polymer that would need to be smashed with a hydraulic machine to break.
I was a little nervous to try and hip-fire a shotgun while holding onto this grip, but it’s only 9 oz (0.5lbs) and significantly reduces the overall weight of the shotgun.
If you want to add a Raptor Grip to your shotgun, You’ll need a 3/16″ hex wrench to install the grip, but all the mounting hardware is included.
Another reason to buy a Raptor grip is they’re owned and operated by a combat veteran. Anytime I can get a new concept revolving around a gun and support a fellow vet is a win-win.
